I mean, New Years. Happy New Year :D
But what better way is there to celebrate the new year than with Latvian pop?
So my two new discoveries are the bands Musiqq and PeR. I really can't find anything about these bands, but their music is fun :D
Musiqq's song "Pirma mana Ziemassvetku Saraksta" is currently number 2 on the Latvian charts (after TiK ToK by Ke$ha). Take a listen:
...but I have their song "Abrakadabra" stuck in my head. Maybe if I get it stuck YOUR head too it'll ease my suffering..
PeR is actually a beatbox group, or, I think they started out as only beatbox. I really have no idea because I can't find anything about them ANYWHERE. In any case, their song Nevar But is number 4 on the charts, and it's pretty freaking awesome. Like, I want this played at my dance party... whenever I have it...
So pretty much, PeR is my new love. They are such BYU students! I mean, they're not, but they would fit in so well! exhibit A:
Can't you see it? They're so white, and crazy, and dorky, and hilarious! Just like BYU students :P
Back to the song, it's actually more genius than you think when you first hear it. As far as I can tell, all of the harmonies and percussion and everything is all vocal- the percussion is beatbox, what sounds like a bass guitar is actually just a low voice. The only thing that isn't vocal is the guitar line. I could be wrong, though, I can't find anything about the song anywhere, but that's what I can tell from it.
